Ambulatory Phlebotomy

Ambulatory phlebotomy, also referred to as microphlebectomy, is a minimally invasive procedure aimed at treating various vein conditions. It's a procedure designed to address issues like varicose veins and other venous disorders through a straightforward and efficient technique that removes problematic veins. By providing relief from the discomfort and symptoms associated with these conditions, ambulatory phlebotomy helps individuals regain their quality of life.

Conditions Treated

Ambulatory phlebotomy is highly effective in treating specific vein conditions, including:

Procedure Overview

Ambulatory phlebotomy is a minimally invasive procedure, making it an attractive option for those seeking effective vein treatment with minimal discomfort and downtime.

  • Local anesthesia

The area to be treated is numbed using a local anesthetic, ensuring your comfort throughout the procedure.

  • Incisions

Small incisions are made in the affected areas. These incisions are typically so small that they don't even require stitches.

  • Vein removal

Using tiny, specialized instruments, the surgeon removes the problematic vein through these incisions.

  • Closure and healing

Once the vein is removed, the incisions are closed, and the area is dressed to facilitate healing.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, minimizing pain during the treatment. You may experience mild discomfort or bruising after the procedure, but this generally subsides quickly.

The duration of ambulatory phlebotomy can vary depending on the size and number of veins being treated. However, it usually takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour. It is performed in our office, and you can go home the same day.

While you can generally resume normal activities soon after the procedure, it's advisable to avoid intense exercise or heavy lifting for a few days. Our team will provide you with specific post-procedure instructions.
