VenaSeal™

Considered one of the most significant breakthrough treatments of vein conditions in over a decade, VenaSeal™ is the only non-thermal, non-tumescent, non-sclerosant procedure approved for use in the United States. The treatment uses a medical adhesive to close unhealthy veins in the legs. The absence of heat, anesthesia, and medication during the VenaSeal™ procedure is key to minimizing your discomfort and recovery time.

Conditions Treated

VenaSeal™ is primarily used to treat venous conditions affecting the lower extremities. These conditions often manifest through symptoms like pain, swelling, and skin discoloration. VenaSeal™ is effective in treating conditions including but not limited to:

Procedure Overview

  • Preparation

Preparation for the procedure may involve administering a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.

  • Application of medical adhesive

A tiny catheter is inserted into the affected vein under ultrasound guidance. Through this catheter, a small amount of the VenaSeal™ medical adhesive is applied directly into the vein.

  • Sealing the vein

The adhesive quickly starts sealing the vein as it's applied. This process reroutes blood flow to healthier veins, addressing the issues caused by the problematic vein.

  • Transformation of the treated vein

Over time, the vein treated with VenaSeal™ transforms into scar tissue and gets absorbed by the body, effectively eliminating the problematic vein.

FAQs

VenaSeal™ is typically not painful. Patients may feel a mild sensation or pressure during the procedure, but it is generally well-tolerated.

The VenaSeal™ procedure typically takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete. It's an efficient and relatively quick process. As for the number of treatments, in most cases, only one VenaSeal™ treatment is needed to effectively close the problematic vein. Unlike some other vein treatments, which may require multiple sessions, VenaSeal™ often achieves its desired results with a single treatment.

Recovery after VenaSeal™ is minimal. Most patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure. Dr. Tawfik will provide specific post-procedure guidelines to ensure a smooth recovery.
